Xbox One Controller (1st Gen) Hall Effect Replacement Sticks
Previous stream when I modded the controller most recently: ua-cam.com/users/liveUF0oCFfUkuE
Shown in the video is a first gen Xbox One Controller but the sticks should be direct swap between all current generations of Xbox One Controller.
1st gen has no headphone jack
2nd gen is 1st gen with a headphone jack and wireless update support
3rd gen has a one-piece faceplate (Xbox guide button is separate on 1st and 2nd gens) and supports bluetooth connectivity
4th gen has the share button below the guide button and native USB C
If you have a 4th gen Xbox Series Controller, you can use the "Xbox Accessories" app on PC to recalibrate the sticks at the firmware level: support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/controller/controller-calibration-tool
This tool does not work to calibrate on 1st gen controllers and prior and does not work at all on 360 controllers of any generation.
Good controller tester (works on desktop and mobile): hardwaretester.com/gamepad
TL;DW -- These are terrible. Keep your old sticks unless absolutely necessary. Even then, keep the pots off your old sticks.

    What do you use on your living room PC? You use like Steam Input on Windows or have you installed HoloISO? I put HoloISO on an old Optiplex with a 6700K/RX 6400 and it's a decent little gaming machine for my old 1080p TV but it's not an incredible experience. The DS4 with the touchpad is nice, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. I hope Valve releases a Steam controller again taking inspiration from the Deck. The Deck's trackpads are absolutely incredible for controlling a PC solely from a gamepad. Hall effect sticks would be great for a first-party Steam controller V2. Doing the Gulikit sticks on my deck is easy, but I still wish they had just opted for hall effect from the get-go.

    I *really* need a new battery for my Micro. Problem is, I'm in the UK. I've been picking up replacements off ebay (the random unbranded white ones in various forms) and they all seem to die within a year, even if I've not been using them. Is there anywhere in the UK to get one of these Mahko batteries (or anything similar)? Because of shipping, getting one from Retrogameshop would cost me about $39 which is kind of insane.

    I have an AGS-001 that I use exclusively as a controller for GameBoy Interface. Since the link cable blocks the charge port, I have to worry about battery life while playing. Pretty annoying How difficult would it be to make an AC adapter for the SP? Ideally the console would plug into the wall and to the GameCube, and it probably wouldn’t have a screen at all. How feasible would it be to bypass the charge port and power the device directly from the battery terminals?

    I'm not an expert, but I think the difference between the two batteries at around the 6:40 mark would simply be related to regions. Japan has a different voltage in their power outlets than North America does. The Li-ion Mn battery has Japanese text on it, whereas the Li-ion one has English. They probably used slightly different batteries to account for the difference in voltage.

    Nintendo missing out. They should have realized theres still a big market for new gameboy stuff. They could of/should of been the ones selling new gameboys. I dont get why its so hard for companies to understand, we still like consoles from the 90s and wish they still made them. Heck I wish they kept making new gameboy games. They need to stop thinking about them as old, and think about them as a different style of game, that people still enjoy, and probably will enjoy forever.

    • @makho
      @makho 18 днів тому

      What's hard to understand? The tooling for this sort of thing is not cheap, support staff and logistics are also required, engineering teams to make the new hardware, and a sea of lawyers dealing with licensing for rereleasing old games and libraries. Nintendo, for example, is already printing money with the Switch so why would they redirect their staff towards a less profitable endeavor? It's not realistic. While this may seem like a "big" market, it's an order of magnitude smaller than it once was. We're talking hundreds to thousands of units verses tens to hundreds of millions.

    Found my old, busted up sp, fixed it up with new shell, ips screen, and battery... miserable battery life. One hour to red light, not quite three to dead console. Add maybe an extra half hour to both if using og cartridge instead of flash cart. I thought I just got a dud battery, so I got multiple new ones from more reputable sources, same story. tried this today, fingers crossed it fixes things... though I'm not holding out too much hope as the switch wasn't that dirty inside once I opened it up, & cleaning didn't make much of a visual difference.

      @Malisteen 27 днів тому

      Well, there was some improvement - went from about a 3 hour battery life to a 4 hour battery life, with most of the increase while the light was still green. Significant improvement, but it remains pretty far from the minimum of I'd call acceptable for a pocket handheld. Still, 33% improvement's not nothing. Maybe I'll go back and try again with the baking soda. Very much appreciate this old video showing me how to do this. Years later & still helping.
